Our HDU has recently been established with the support of our new Resident Anaesthetist who has had many years of experience in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) management. Our two-bedded HDU comes equipped with 2 invasive mechanical ventilators and a CPAP device for assisted ventilation for the critically ill. We have also recently equipped our HDU with state-of-the-art infusion and syringe pump system to maximise overall patient safety.

The HDU will be made available to all inpatients who may require intensive monitoring and treatment of severe illnesses.

For high risk surgeries, the HDU will also serve as an intermediary between the operation theatre and ward care because these patients may require immediate intensive care management post-surgery. This will allow major surgeries to proceed safely, knowing that there is adequate post-op HDU backup.
